Community

“Monmouth is a far better place for the compassion shown by its local community centre.”
Victoria Halifax, editor, Monmouthshire Beacon

Apart from providing a base for a wide range of activities, Bridges is also directly responsible for a number of initiatives arising from and designed to fulfil the needs of the community.

Social Circles

We support the local older generation by offering two social sessions a week, with varied activities. Social Circles offers its users a regular (and in many cases their only) opportunity to meet others and enjoy a cooked lunch. Social Circles is the successor to COMIC, part of Bridges since it started.

Dancetime4all

A totally inclusive and intergenerational weekly activity enjoyed by older people, including those with dementia; carers, adults and children; people who are lonely; people who want to get fit, enjoy dancing and want to exercise. Our Dances are supportive, therapeutic events where carers can feel at ease about the participation of those they care for.

Lunch Club and Afternoon Teas

Run by our wonderful volunteers and offering a welcoming meeting place for our senior citizens.

Building Bridges

Supporting young adults with additional needs through activities, fun, friendship and work-related activities throughout Monmouthshire.

Quest Busters – QB

QB provide locally based meaningful activities that are in a fun safe space, which promote the wellbeing of children aged 8-14 (14-17) with additional needs and their families in Monmouthshire. The project has evolved from the experiences already created by MAGIC and the Building Bridges Project and works closely with these existing projects to support families. www.facebook.com/qbmonmouthshire

Community Connections

A befriending scheme working across Monmouthshire. We link volunteers with older people who are isolated and lonely. We also offer friendly practical help. The Bridges car scheme provides flexible transport for people who have difficulty using existing transport services.

Volunteering for Wellbeing

Volunteering for Wellbeing recruits, trains and supports people of all ages to offer their services to a wide range of social and community initiatives throughout Monmouthshire.

Bridges Community Shop – Monmouth
