Bridges Centre selected as part of the Co-op Local Community Fund

Bridges Centre has been chosen as one of three local charities to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund for the next twelve months. During that time Co-op members can select us as their nominated cause via their membership app or their online account and for every pound spent in-store on qualifying products a donation will be made to Bridges Centre.

We will be highlighting four different projects that over the next twelve months will benefit from your shopping purchases and the Local Community Fund. If you are not already a member of the Co-op we’d love it if you sign up and nominate us as your chosen cause. Full details on how membership works and how to sign up can be found at this LINK. You can download the Co-op Membership Rewards App from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.

Our first project that your shopping can help contribute towards is the cedar tree ‘renovation’. As many of you know we lost our beloved cedar to Phaeolus schweinitzii (or root rot for non Latin speakers!) earlier in the year. The tree was an iconic part of the Monmouth landscape and the face of Drybridge House and Bridges Centre, and was much loved by residents, staff and visitors alike. We are confident that the remaining trunk can be turned into something majestic, memorable and Monmouth!

The tree sculpting initiative will begin with the commissioning of Chris Wood who is a wizard with a chainsaw! Take a look at some of his previous work below.

As you can see, Chris is really rather good with wood. Funds raised from the first few months of the Co-op scheme will be utilised for the purpose of giving the cedar trunk a new lease of life that will last for years to come.

We will continue to keep you updated as to where the funds will be allocated over the course of the next twelve months. Thank you all in advance!
