‘The goodwill of individuals never ceases to amaze me and we never take it for granted. There is always something to be done, and we’re grateful for the commitment & enthusiasm of all our volunteers, past, present, and future.’  Heather Vincent – Project Lead, Community Connections

Volunteering opportunities

There are a huge variety of volunteering opportunities. Briefly detailed below are opportunities presently available.
Volunteers are needed to help out with the following:

Intergenerational Tea Dance – fun and dancing for all ages and abilities running every Thursday in Bridges from 1.45pm – 3.15pm. We need volunteers who would be willing to dance (no experience or expertise needed – just enthusiasm), chat with people not dancing and help with teas and biscuits.

Gardening –There is a gardening group that tend to the gardens at Bridges centre on a Tuesday morning and they always welcome new members to assist them.

Bridges Community Shop – open everyday, volunteers are needed to sort stock, steam, price and get things ready for the shop floor, and manage the till.

Community Car Scheme Drivers– Volunteers who own a car are needed to take local people on short local journeys or occasional longer journeys to hospital appointments. Travel expenses can be refunded and commitment can be as much or as little as you want.

Community Connections befriending scheme – Volunteers support older isolated and lonely people through friendship. Volunteers make visits, usually once a week to brighten someone’s day.

If you can spare a couple of hours a week please contact wellbeing@bridgescentre.org.uk
