BRIEF HISTORY IN NUMBERS

  • 1984

    Bridges is set up in a small office above the Beacon offices and using Overmonnow church hall, to provide training and support following a time of unemployment in Monmouth.

  • 1986

    Move to Hadnock road site, officially opened by HRH Princess Diana, the Princess of Wales the following year.

  • 2000

    (Jan) Restoration of Drybridge House begins, with support from Charities Lottery, Heritage Lottery Fund, CADW, trust funds and the public.

  • 2003

    (Nov) Completion of move to Drybridge House site.

  • 2009

    (Sept) Visit by Earl of Wessex to mark Bridges’ 25th Anniversary.

  • 2014

    Bridges celebrates its 30th anniversary.

  • 2016

    (May) Bridges Community Shop opens.

  • 2016

    (June) Bridges celebrates 10 years of the Intergenerational Tea Dance.

  • 2016

    (June) Bridges Community Centre changes its name to Bridges Centre.
